Van Landschoot's 90-year anniversary
In September 2015, the Van Landschoot mattress factory in Maldegem, Belgium, celebrated nine decades in business. And the company did not allow that special jubilee to pass unnoticed.Van Landschoot launched new products to celebrate the anniversary, including the hand-made "Back to the Roots" collection.
Van Landschoot was founded in 1925, and it has remained a family business until today. Manager Luc De Coninck is one of the third generation, and he has held the tiller at the company on the Aalterbaan in Maldegem for 36 years. Is ninety years old for a family company? "Well, it's true that there has been a lot of change since the day I first set foot in the factory," said Luc. "Our infrastructure has been thoroughly modernised several times. For a few years now, we have a production unit abroad, and our sales are international. We do not stand still, and we try to be a leader in the sector. That is how we kept going, and why we can have the pleasure of blowing out our 90 candles today," he added.
Onwards to 100
Just one more milestone and we can proudly claim a century for Van Landschoot. And that warrants festive feelings. Earlier this year, we launched the hand-made collection, with a nod of tribute to the company's early days. We named the range of mattresses "Tradition".
Currently, we have around ninety people working at the Van Landschoot head office in Maldegem. And we invest continuously to ensure us a rosy future. The company will still be in the family's hands at the centenary, because Luc's two children are looking forward to becoming the fourth generation to run Van Landschoot, within a few years.
